Welcome to the École Poirier Choir Blog!

This is where you will find the latest information about upcoming events involving the Poirier Choir.  Look for news on concerts, choir trips, special performances, Music Monday, and more!

The Poirier Choir participated in the annual Sooke Sing Out on March 10th at EMCS, joining other choirs from Sooke  schools and the Sooke Community Choir.  The students performed “Rhythm of the Rain” and JOIN IN – our school song.  The Poirier Choir was pleased to have student accompanists this year playing a variety of percussion instruments.  They all sounded fantastic!  It was a great night of singing in the community, with students having the chance to appreciate other choirs as well as seeing that choral singing can be a lifelong activity!

Music Monday 2014 is coming up – the 10th anniversary of the event. Mark your calendars for May 5th.  This is a day sponsored by the Canadian Coalition for Music Education in which hundreds of thousands of students across Canada are joined in song at the same time on the same day.  Last year’s event was ground-breaking, as it was also the first time that the Music Monday song was performed with someone in space – you may recall that Cmdr Chris Hadfield sang with us from the International Space Station.

The Poirier Choir will be rehearsing the ISS song starting next week – listen to it here.

Stay tuned for more news about how the Poirier Choir plans to be involved in a special event on Music Monday!
