January News 2017 – Mark your calendars for a Canada 150 celebration!

École Poirier Choir 2017 January Newsletter

Hello Choir Families! The Poirier Choir has another exciting season planned as we head into Canada’s 150th Birthday year. Our choir includes students from grades 2-5 and we rehearse once a week during lunch recess. Thursdays will be our regular practice day for the coming season. We encourage regular attendance and lots of positive participation as we work towards our performance goals. Please mark your calendars for the following events:

Monday, March 13th – The 25th Annual Sooke Spring Sing Out hosted by the Sooke Community Choir   7 – 8 pm (6:30 arrival time) at the EMCS Gym

SUNDAY, April 9th 2:30pm – Rink Cycle II: Victoria Symphony Celebrates Canada 150 with Victoria Youth – a very special event taking place at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria.

You’ll see in the information following that the Rink Cycle event is indeed a very special opportunity for our students to perform with the Victoria Symphony and over 2,000 students from Greater Victoria. It is happening on a Sunday afternoon, and will be a unique celebration of Canadian culture and music! Invite your extended family and friends to this special event – see ticket information below.

We will be providing more details about both of these events in the weeks to come. Please check the École Poirier Choir Blog to stay up to date and to view videos of the pieces we are working on. This is a great way for students to practice their songs! I will also try to include lyric sheets when I get a chance.   http://poirierchoir.staff.sd62.bc.ca
